Vaginal Rejuvenation

For even the healthiest of women, time, weight changes and childbirth can irrevocably change the vagina, often leading to annoying and embarrassing problems, such as urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness and decreased sexual pleasure. With vaginal rejuvenation in Miami at Prestige Aesthetic Center, women can reverse many of these changes, regaining their youthfulness in an area where it may matter most.

What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Aging and health-related changes affect much more than the skin. Vaginal rejuvenation is used to address changes that may be purely cosmetic or that could also include functional concerns and increasing discomfort in the area. Some other terms that you may hear used for this collection of plastic surgery procedures include genital cosmetic surgery or female genital rejuvenation surgery. These terms actually refer to a variety of surgeries that can target a myriad of problems in and around the vagina, including with the labia and more.

Ideal Candidates for Vaginal Rejuvenation

Most women opt for genital rejuvenation surgeries to address cosmetic concerns and increase their self-esteem. In these cases, the ideal candidate will be generally healthy, understand the purpose and limitations of the surgery and have sufficient time to take away from her typical daily tasks to recover completely.

Ideal candidates for functional rejuvenation procedures are those who have regular discomfort from labial twisting, pain during intercourse or urinary incontinence. In addition, all women should be done with pregnancy and childbirth because a vaginal delivery in the future will recreate many of the same problems.

Pros and Cons of Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery

As with all invasive cosmetic procedures, vaginal rejuvenation surgery comes with its own list of pros and cons. By carefully considering both the risks and the benefits, women will be able to make the best decisions for themselves. Some of the most common risks of this procedure include the following:

  • Multiple appointments
  • Post-operative bleeding, discomfort and infection
  • Reactions to anesthesia
  • Dissatisfaction with the visible results

On the other hand, female genital rejuvenation procedures also bring a myriad of benefits, including the following:

  • Improved self-confidence in oneself and when with her partner
  • Firmer, tighter vaginal walls
  • Improved sensations during intercourse
  • Decreased urinary incontinence
  • Improved appearance in swimsuits

Vaginal Rejuvenation Procedures

There are a variety of rejuvenation procedures available today at Prestige Aesthetic Center that are designed to address your precise concerns. These may be used on their own, or Dr. Giselle Ghurani may be able to combine two or more procedures into one surgery time depending on your needs.

Cosmetic Vaginoplasty

Cosmetic vaginoplasty is done purely for aesthetic reasons although you may find that it brings a few physical and emotional benefits along with it. This procedure may also be called a posterior polporrhaphy and primarily tightens the vaginal walls following age-related changes or childbirth. During the surgery, the muscles in the vaginal are pulled closer together, and excess skin and tissues are removed.

Labiaplasty

The labia are the tissues that cover the opening to the vagina, but they may naturally sag due to age or childbirth. Not only can drooping or enlarged labia cause cosmetic concerns, but also they may create pain if they twist or are pulled. The labia minora are most frequently addressed, and our surgeon can remove excessive tissues so that the labia minora do not press out through the labia majora.

Hymenoplasty or Revirgination

A hymenoplasty is performed to recreate the hymen, which is the tissue that is broken during a woman’s first sexual experience. For some, the hymen can even break and bleed following accidents. Reconstructing the hymen can create a new sexual experience, help a woman reclaim control over her sexual life and improve sexual pleasure as the muscles in the area are tightened.

G-Spot Amplification

The G-spot is the area most responsible for a woman’s sexual pleasure. G-spot amplification makes this spot larger to improve sexual intimacy, sensitivity and overall pleasure for the woman. It may also increase the frequency and duration of orgasms. This very short procedure uses a hyaluronic acid filler injection to increase the size of the G-spot. Results from the injection typically last approximately three months.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

The clitoral hood, also known as the prepuce, may be naturally enlarged, reducing access to the clitoris and decreasing a woman’s pleasure during sexual experiences. A clitoral hood reduction is often combined with a labiaplasty of the labia majora to create a more balanced look.

Perineoplasty

A perineoplasty focuses on the perineal area located between the vagina and the anus. In this procedure, Dr. Giselle Ghurani will remove excessive or scarred tissues and tighten loose muscles or loosen tight muscles to improve a woman’s appearance, improve self-confidence and increase pleasure during intercourse. A perineoplasty may be needed following extreme weight loss or vaginal childbirth.

Preparing for Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery

Your cosmetic gynecologist surgeon will ensure that you are completely healthy and able to undergo vaginal surgery before beginning. Therefore, you will need to be cleared with a full physical. You may also be required to have pre-procedural laboratory work completed.

Be sure that you know what to expect before and after your procedure. You may need someone to drive you to and from your appointment, and you may need to take some time off work as well. A few days prior to surgery, you may be instructed to stop taking certain medications or supplements that could increase your risk of bleeding. You should also stop smoking at least two weeks before your procedure to decrease your risk of certain complications and to improve the healing process.

What to Expect on the Surgery Day?

When you arrive, you will be prepared for surgery. You will most likely have an intravenous line placed. Cosmetic vaginal surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, and you will be able to return to your own home to rest and recover shortly after your surgery. You may initially have some mild discomfort, but Dr. Giselle Ghurani will let you know what you can do to control it.

Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgery Recovery

The recovery period varies in length from patient to patient depending on healing time and the procedure that was chosen. However, the majority of women find that they only need to take approximately two weeks off work to recover.

In the first few days following surgery, you may notice mild discomfort, swelling and itching. However, this should decrease significantly if not completely after the first two weeks. Be sure to avoid strenuous activities that could strain any sutures for the first four weeks. Your sutures should dissolve or be removed by your surgeon by this point. Once you are completely recovered, no scars should be visible.
